Four-time Tony winner Audra McDonald won the Drama League Distinguished Performance Award on May 18 for her performance as Bess in the revival of the Gershwin musical Porgy and Bess. McDonald won the coveted award out of 56 nominees, including Angela Lansbury, John Larroquette, Kelli O'Hara, Alan Rickman and more. The acclaimed productions of Other Desert Cities and Once took home top prizes for Distinguished Production of a Play and Distinguished Production of a Musical, respectively. The 78th Annual Drama League Awards were hosted by Stockard Channing and John Larroquette at a a gala luncheon in the Marriott Marquis Times Square. A complete list of winners follows:

The Drama League Awards honor the best of Broadway and off-Broadway theater. The Drama League also presented non-competitive awards to Diane Paulus (Julia Hansen Award for Excellence in Directing), Rosie O’Donnell (Unique Contribution to the Theatre Award) and Alan Menken (Distinguished Achievement in Musical Theatre Award), as previously announced.
